वेद , पुराण और धार्मिक अंखियानों के अनुसार आत्मा को परमात्मा का ही अंश माना गया है । परमात्मा = परम + आत्मा । उस परम शक्ति से अलग होकर आत्मा धरती पर जीव रूप में उत्पन्न हुई । जब परमात्मा कभी नष्ट नहीं होता , तो उसके अंत स्वरूप आत्मा के नष्ट हो जाने का कोई प्रश्न ही नहीं बनता ।  ( kids stories )

" आत्मा " अमर है । वैज्ञानिक दृष्टि से संसार की कोई भी वस्तु हो,  चाहे वह जीवधारी हो या निर्जीव कभी नष्ट नहीं होती।  उसका स्वरूप परिवर्तित हो जाता है ( बदल जाता ) ।  ( kids stories ) जैसे आप लकड़ी को जला डालो । लकड़ी जलकर राख हो जाएगी ।  लकड़ी का रुप बदल जाएगा। वह राख बन गई  आप सोचेंगे कि 50 किलो लकड़ी की राख 5 किलो भी नहीं होगी।  इस तरह तो यह सिद्ध होता है कि किसी वस्तु का पूरा नहीं तो कुछ अंश तो समाप्त ही होता है । ( kids stories )
किंतु यह सत्य नहीं है । जिन्होंने भी विज्ञान पढा होगा वे जानते होंगे किंतु जिन्होंने विज्ञान नहीं पढ़ा उनके प्रश्न का समाधान कर देना उचित है । लकड़ी जलते समय उसमें से जो कार्बन डाइऑक्साइड गैस निकलती है उसे किसी तरह इकट्ठा कर ले । उस गैस को और लकड़ी की राख को तोल ले । दोनों का वजन लकड़ी के वजन के से 1 ग्राम भी कम नहीं होगा।  जब निर्जीव का अस्तित्व समाप्त नहीं हो सकता तो परमात्मा के अंश रूप आत्मा ( जीव ) का अस्तित्व कैसे समाप्त होगा , अर्थात आत्मा अमर है।( kids stories )
 " The soul is immortal . Scientifically, any thing in the world, whether it is living or non-living, is never destroyed. Its form changes. Like you burn wood. Wood will be burnt to ashes. The shape of the wood will change.  ( kids stories ) That ash has become, you would think that 50 kg of wood ash would not be even 5 kg.
